All people with comorbidities can make an appointment for their second booster of the covid-19 vaccine, the Ministry of Health has announced. Here is the list of comorbidities that qualify for this booster dose.
People between the ages of 18 and 60 are now eligible for the 4th dose of the covid-19 vaccine to deal with the epidemic resumption caused by the more contagious BA4 and BA5 variants.
Which high-risk diseases (comorbidities) qualify for the vaccine?
The comorbidities which give the right to the vaccine are the diseases determined “at high risk of death” or at high risk of a serious form of covid-19, determined by the High Authority for Health. Here are the main ones:
- Obesity (BMI over 30)
- COPD and respiratory failure
- Complicated hypertension
- Heart failure
- Type 1 and type 2 diabetes
- Chronic renal failure
- Cancers and malignant hematological diseases active and less than 3 years old
- Trisomy 21
- Transplantation of organ or hematopoietic stem cells
By whom to be vaccinated?
- By your attending physician
- In pharmacy
- In a vaccination center with a medical prescription (issued by the attending physician).
The HAS emphasizes the special attention that must be paid to people who have several comorbidities and who must be among the people to be vaccinated as a priority. Studies show that the accumulation of three comorbidities leads to almost the same level of risk of dying as in the upper age group without polypathologies.
