Among VSEs and SMEs looking to recruit, more than nine out of ten managers (94%) find it difficult to find the “right profile”. This is one of the main lessons of the business survey published on Tuesday by the Confederation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (CPME). According to this survey of 2,362 business leaders, half of them (51%) are currently looking to hire.
The first reason given to explain these difficulties is the absence of candidates (74%), ahead of the lack of skills (47%). This “unprecedented” situation is partly explained by the strong economic recovery after the 2020 recession, the change of sector of activity of many employees with the Covid-19 crisis and the lack of particularly sought-after qualifications.
