Will the tax on the “superprofits” generated by certain companies as a result of the war in Ukraine be adopted by the National Assembly as part of the debate on purchasing power? One thing is certain: the pressure is mounting. More and more European countries have opted for this system, like Spain last week.
During his July 14 interview, Emmanuel Macron remained evasive on this issue. “There will be a contribution but it will not be grandstanding,” he said. The government’s strategy could therefore consist of simply brandishing the threat of an exceptional tax to push companies to take measures that suit them better to relieve the wallets of the French.
