It is an outstretched hand to the right that the Minister of the Economy had himself suggested, ahead of the debate on the bill on purchasing power: to strengthen the tax exemption for overtime. The idea caught on. Two amendments tabled in the Finance Committee of the National Assembly were adopted Tuesday evening, during the examination of the draft amending budget.
Concretely, these texts plan to increase the limit below which overtime is exempt from income tax. The amendment tabled by Mathieu Lefèvre and Aurore Bergé, two elected officials from Renaissance (ex-LREM), “aims to raise the tax exemption ceiling for overtime and additional hours worked by employees to 7,500 euros for the year 2022, i.e. between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022”.
