Update: Samaritan finally has a release date in France. It is August 31, 2022 that we will be able to enjoy Sylvester Stallone’s superhero film (and August 26 in the US).
Update 2: Samaritan is finally deprived of cinema release. The film lands directly on Prime Video on August 26. A trailer should be coming soon.

Directed by Julius Avery (Overlord and soon The Pope’s Exorcist with Russell Crowe), Samaritan sees Sly play Stanley Kominski, an old, dead superhero that a young boy is looking for. This hero would have won a huge battle twenty years earlier before disappearing from the face of the earth.

“It’s the best movie I’ve done in years.” proclaims Sly in an Instagram video. “Everything is really top notch. The story is different. It’s like a superhero movie, a superman movie but with a lot of heart.”
“The team was great, the locations perfect… It was a truly unique experience with a very good director, very good producers and an amazing stunt team. When I thought I had done everything, I realize that there are still exciting things to be experienced. It’s easy to get jaded and say, “I have nothing to prove anymore.” But yet yes. There is always something in the engine, something that has yet to be proven. This movie got me excited again and I tell myself that the best is yet to come.”. continues Sly, 74, visibly revitalized.

In Samaritan, Sly embodies Stanley Kominski an old missing superhero that a young boy is looking for. This hero would have won a huge battle twenty years earlier before disappearing from the face of the earth.
We don’t know much more. Photos from the set shared by Stallone show him bearded, shaggy, bruised face dressed like a homeless man.
Also in the cast are Pilou Asbaek (Game Of Thrones, Ghost In A Shell), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley, Freaks and Geeks) and the French Natacha Karam (Homeland, 9-1-1 Lone Star).
