Amazon announced during The Wheel of Time session at San Diego Comic-Con that its Amazon Prime Video fiction series based on Robert Jordan’s novels has been renewed for a third season, and revealed a behind-the-scenes video of the upcoming second season. Which is still without a release date.
Executive Producer and General Supervisor Ravi Judkins said, “I am thrilled that we will be making the third season of The Wheel of Time. Shadow Rising has always been my favorite book in the series, so the opportunity to bring it to TV and introduce new audiences to the stories made me fall for it. Loving these books in the first place is a huge honor, and it’s something I’ve been working towards since I first proposed the series many years ago.”
Although the announcement of the third season now may seem strange given that the second season has not yet been released, Amazon did the same with the second season, which it confirmed before the first was released.
And in our first season review, which we gave 9 out of 10, we said, “The Wheel of Time from Amazon Prime Video manages to embody Robert Jordan’s novels so well that it could truly become the successor to Game of Thrones.”
