Vinci is already reaping the first fruits from the acquisition, at the end of 2021, of the company Cobra IS. The French construction heavyweight, which spent 4.9 billion euros to acquire the green energy activities of the Spanish group ACS (its biggest acquisition since the takeover of Gatwick airport at the end of 2018-early 2019), has just won with Dragados Offshore, a subsidiary of Cobra IS, a first – and large – contract in the field of offshore wind energy.
Joined together in a consortium, Dragados Offshore and Siemens Energy (the former energy branch of the Siemens conglomerate) have been awarded a contract for the design, construction and installation of platforms for converting wind energy produced in the North Sea . Its amount is around 2 billion euros, the share going to Vinci being “close to a billion”. This contract, announced early Thursday evening, was awarded by Amprion Offshore, an entity of the German electricity transmission operator Amprion Connects.
