The Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune was the guest of the CNEWS Matinale this Friday. He returned to the many attacks suffered by the police on French territory.
Asked about the violence against the police, Clément Beaune, Minister Delegate for Transport, said that “these attacks are extremely violent, extremely shocking, unspeakable”.
In recent days, an agent of the Anti-Crime Squad was beaten up in a town near Dijon, and three police officers were attacked in Lyon. Faced with these acts of violence, the minister explained that “it will take a judicial inquiry, extremely strong sanctions”.
In order to curb these violent attacks and the feeling of insecurity, Clément Beaune wants to “strengthen the workforce and strengthen our judicial resources”. Large cities like “Paris and Lyon” will be the main targets of these reinforcements. “We will double the police presence on the ground in five years,” explained the minister.
On the other hand, this measure will not be applied immediately: “The fight against insecurity is a long-term fight. We have been carrying it out relentlessly for five years and we will further strengthen it in the months to come”.
