Despite its price, the Macbook Air M2 (which we haven’t received yet, the fault of delivery times) is, on paper, an excellent laptop. On the other hand, many users complain that it is easily scratched.
As indicate 9to5Mac, MKBHD or iCaveDave, the Midnight finishin addition to being a real fingerprint magnet, scratches in seconds. A problem that reminds us of the concern that we have with MacBooks in Space Gray color, where the paint seems to “bleed off” after a certain time of use on the palms of the hands…
A coating that wears out too quickly
On Twitter or Reddit, many users and reviewers around the world have noticed that the dark MacBook Air M2 picks up scratches and even bumps very easily. The other three colorways don’t seem to be affected as much, though the editor of TechRadar have show a similar scratch on its gray model.
The problem is that these scratches do not appear after several years. No, the MacBook Air M2 is only officially available since July 15, 2022. However, hundreds of users are already reporting the same problem.

If we are to believe the photos circulating online, the touchpad outlines as well as USB-C ports, located on the left side, appear to be the most affected. A manufacturing defect that doesn’t bode well for the durability of the machine over time…
At €1499 for the basic model (by the way, is it really worth it?), the MacBook Air M2 is also not cheap, while the MacBook Air M1 is often found today under the bar of €1000. For our part, we are waiting to receive ours (in Midnight color precisely) which should arrive at the beginning of August.
