Netflix announced today that it has acquired Animal Logic, an animation studio that has previously worked on films and shows such as Captain Marvel, The Lego Movie 2, Peter Rabbit, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and more.
The Australian studio has been in the business since its inception in 1994 with Little Women, and has since contributed to several blockbuster films, his previous works include Babe, The Matrix, Farscape and Moulin Rouge! and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Harry Potter and the Globet of Fire.
The studio is currently working hard on the animation services for Astro Boy, and is also involved in work on The Magician’s Elephant and The Shrinking of the Treehorns in partnership with Netflix.
With Animal Logic, Netflix has acquired nearly 800 employees in Sydney and Vancouver, and intends to use its resources to produce some of the biggest animated films, although the deal has not closed yet, but is expected to do so later this year.
