From July 21 to 24, San Diego Comic-Con is held to the delight of pop culture enthusiasts. At the bend of an alley of the festival, visitors were able to admire the adorable face of an animatronic Grogu whose starting price rises close to 100,000 dollars.

Exiled online for two years because of the pandemic, Comic-Con resumes its quarters in San Diego from July 21 to 24. Decked out in their finest costumes, geeks flock with delight to the aisles of the festival dedicated to pop culture. In addition to the expected revelations on Rings of Power, House of the Dragon or black adam, the festival is full of stands full of derivative objects. And one of them particularly caught the attention of visitors.
This is an animatronic of “Baby Yoda” who however prefers to be called Grogu, his real first name. The creature dear to fans of The Mandalorian is already embodied by a puppet in the series who shares his screen time with computer graphics. The main puppet dedicated to filming would have cost the trifle of five million dollars, according to actor Adam Pally interviewed by EW.
An impressively realistic Grogu
The Comic-Con Grogu meanwhile costs at least $85,000. This puppet was developed by EFX Collectibles in partnership with Garner Holt Productions. Legacy Effects provided the main patterns for the head, ears, hands and fabric for her dress. This highly realistic Grogu has 15 individual moves. As you can see below, he can wiggle his pointy ears, widen or close his eyes, and raise his hands slightly to commune with the Force.
Buyers will benefit from a custom-built, handmade Grogu in California. If the basic model has 15 movements, up to 16 additional servomotors can be integrated. Hence probably its price range of between $85,000 and $100,000.
