Météo-France updated its weather alert this Friday, July 22 at 4 p.m. There are now 18 departments which are placed in orange vigilance in the heat wave or storms.
The heat and thunderstorms are expected to continue this weekend. Météo-France has thus placed 18 departments on orange heatwave and storm vigilance, in its 6 a.m. bulletin published this Friday afternoon July 22.

The departments concerned by the orange heatwave vigilance are: Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Ardèche, Bouches-du-Rhône, Drôme, Gard, Isère, Rhône, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Var, Vaucluse and finally Hérault which has just added its name to the list.
While the departments on orange alert to thunderstorms are still: Eure, Somme, Oise and Seine-Maritime.
In the south-eastern quarter of France, the heat wave continues. Friday, “maximum temperatures will generally be between 34 and 38 ° C with occasional peaks at 39/40 ° C in the departments placed in orange vigilance”, explains Météo-France.
“Nighttime temperatures will remain high, often above 20°C and even between 22 and 26°C in coastal areas. The high temperatures persist until the beginning of the week in these regions even if the maximum temperatures can occasionally show a slight inflection, ”explains the meteorological institute.
In the departments concerned by orange vigilance for thunderstorms, “these will be accompanied by high intensities of precipitation (typically around 30 mm / h), sometimes hail as well as strong gusts of wind”, highlights Météo-France guard.
