Zach Galligan, the interpreter of Billy in the Gremlins films, joins the voice cast of the animated series Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai.
Zach Galliganwho played the role of Billy Peltzer in the films Gremlinswill have a recurring guest role on the HBO Max animated series, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. The comedian told Comic-Con: ‘I can’t say too much, but because it’s 1920s China, I don’t play Billy because he wasn’t there. So I play this cool character. It was really fun and amazing to work with a new group of creatives taking a fresh look at the franchise and expanding the mythology – who knows what they’ll add. Maybe they’ll add a new transformation or a new rule that we don’t know yet…I think Gremlins fans are in for a treat.‘
Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai returns to 1920s Shanghai to recount how 10-year-old Sam Wing (the future store owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 film) met the young Mogwai called Gizmo. Along with a teenage street thief named Elle, Sam and Gizmo embark on a journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, monsters and colorful spirits from Chinese folklore. In their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.
The voice cast of the series consists of Ming Na Wen, James Hong, BD Wong, Izaac Wang, Zach Galligan, Sandra Oh, Randall Park, George Takei and Bowen Yang.
