Marvel unveiled during San Diego Comic-Con the trailer for “My Name is Groot”, a series of five short films dedicated to one of the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy team.
Groot, star of the MCU
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) made it possible to introduce into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) a whole new team of superheroes. Among them, Groot immediately made an impression. A species of imposing tree which is expressed only by a sentence: My name is Groot (I am Groot in VO). But the end of the film was on the verge of ending tragically for the character. The latter is ready to sacrifice himself to protect his friends. It is then thought to be destroyed, but it appears in the credits in another form…

The following films, the character will grow. First we find out as a child very cute and funny in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (2017), before he reached adolescence. Marvel and Disney understood that there was potential with Groot. That is why a series is dedicated to him to introduce him to a still fairly young period of his life.
A series for young Groot
The studio took advantage of San Diego Comic-Con to unveil a first trailer (in one article) of the program called My name is Groot. It will be five short films which all look more adorable than each other. We see it from the start with Groot attacked by tiny creatures who will finally change their minds in front of a leaf that has come out of Groot’s posterior. We therefore feel that the tone will be rather childish, but the adult audience should find some pleasure in it despite everything.
What’s most intriguing about all of this is how the show will manage to stay appealing with a character who just keeps repeating the same phrase. We will see it all the same in a whole bunch of situations that promise to be hilarious.
My name is Groot will be available on Disney+ on August 10.
