The trailer takes a look at all six heroes, and includes narration by Alpha, a famous character from the Walking Dead series and the leader of a group of survivors called the Whisperers in the comics and series. Tales of the Walking Dead will review the character before her story as we know it, when she was called Dee. Actress Samantha Morton returns to play her character.
“I was so devastated when Alpha died,” Morton said at the SDCC session. “It was the turn of a lifetime. All things had to come to an end and I had come to terms with it, but when I got the call that this was going to happen, my joy was unbelievable. I’m 45, so As an actress, roles change, and you either make tea, or you’re the wife, and you can be a bad person.”
She added, “It’s interesting because that’s Dee’s perspective. Dee didn’t change before she became an alpha. But she was always an alpha, she was always there.”
It is reported that Tales of the Walking Dead is a spin-off from The Walking Dead that will be shown on August 14th via AMC+. But instead of telling a single story with linear events, the series consists of 6 independent hour-long episodes, each containing a mix of new and old characters from the universe.
The cast will include Olivia Munn, Samantha Morton, Terry Crews, Parker Posey, Anthony Edwards, Bobby Liu, Gillian Bale, Lone Chabanol, Embeth Daviditz, Jesse T Asher, Daniela Pineda, and Danny Ramirez.
