Keanu Reeves appeared at Comic-Con to tease the future of his comic series BRZRKR. While not revealing the BOOM! Studios About BRZRKR There’s a lot of new information about the reality movie based on the comics that Netflix is currently working on, but we’ve got some new information about the animated series.
During the session, Stephen Christie from Boom confirmed that the anime is currently in production at the Japanese animation studio Production IG, and the works the studio previously worked on include Ghost in the Shell and Eden of the East.
It was also revealed that there are plans for two seasons of the anime on Netflix. We don’t yet know the number of episodes but it looks like the anime will tell a limited story instead of being an open-ended continuation of the movie.
Composed by Reeves and Kindt and illustrated by Ron Garney, BRZRKR chronicles the bloody life of B, an immortal demigod who has spent 80,000 years honing his skills as an assassin. Modern day B works as an agent for the US government in hopes of uncovering a way to end his long life. Reeves will star in the real-life movie and will voice B character in the anime series.
In addition to these Netflix spin-offs, Reeves is also working on the BRZRKR novel with an unnamed New York Times bestselling author. Reeves cannot reveal the author’s name yet but has revealed that he is one of his favorite authors and that he reached out to him specifically to collaborate on the book. The BRZRKR novel will be published by Random House.
In terms of comics, Boom will be publishing a third and final story beginning in September 2022, and Reeves revealed that BRZRKR 12 will be released as a double-volume 48-page issue.
